Wedding Wednesday: Jennifer & Kevin

Kevin, son of Angelo and Silvina Soares, and Jennifer, daughter of
Joseph and Sherri Izidoro, grew up in Point Loma. Being of Portuguese
descent and involved in the community, they were acquaintances since
high school but never anything more. They connected over their love for
soccer – his love to play and hers to watch. Kevin works on the Naval
Base as a Fitness Trainer and is Head Coach for Soccer Team at the
Academy of Our Lady of Peace, Jennifer’s high school alma mater, and
Jennifer is a Registered Nurse at Sharp Mary Birch. On their first
official date, he took her to dinner at C-level followed by a movie,
where he fell asleep. He had her heart from the beginning. Probably
because instead of sending flowers to apologize, he delivered his
Mother’s homemade Portuguese bread. Two and a half years later, Kevin
returned to the site of the first date and proposed at C-level. Keeping
it local, as they have grandparents who could not travel away from San
Diego, they were married on April 2, 2016 in front of 270 family and
friends at Saint Agnes Church in Point Loma and followed with their
reception at the Admiral Kidd Club on the Naval Base. Only one of the
Bride’s four grandparents were not in attendance. Before they arrived at
the Reception, the Bride and Groom, along with the rest of the Bridal
Party, made a stop at the Bride’s Grandmother’s home in Point Loma.

Jennifer
wore her mother and her Grandmother’s daughter, Sherri Izidoro’s,
dress. Donned with a corsage of her own, her Grandmother saw her eldest
daughter’s wedding once again on her daughter’s eldest daughter. The
dress was a long sleeve, high neck, A-line lace dress from the 70s, that
was cleaned and altered by Margaret’s Cleaners in La Jolla. Capturing
these last moments were Photographer Billy Economou and Videographer
Royal Films, for which the Bride and Groom will be forever grateful. Her
Grandmother past away 8 days later, April 10, 2016. Admiral Kidd was
decorated in lanterns, gold mercury glass, baby’s breath, and
candlelight by Flowers of Point Loma. The Best Man and his sister
surprised the Groom with his guitar playing and singing the First Dance
Song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”. Because of the Bride’s love of
dessert, gelato was served from Gelato Paradiso’s cart at the reception
and a Dessert Table was full with baked goods from Kristie Durment. The
reception was DJ’d by DJ Allen Walker, kept on track by Coordinator
Jennifer Mitzven at Champagne Events, and beyond the talents of Billy
Economou and Royal Films, the guests’ fun was captured by
WeHeartStudio’s open air Photobooth. The Bridesmaids’ and flower girl’s
dresses were a reflection of the bride’s long sleeve lace but black. The
Groom, Groomsmen, Ring Bearer and Fathers wore traditional black
tuxedos from Friar Tux. The Bride and Groom, two natives, chose to take
their photos at Cabrillo National Monument, Liberty Station and Admiral
Kidd Club, sights they grew up seeing and want to remember as their
foundation.
