Let the Social Season Begin

Bridgerton is set in the extravagant Regency era and focuses on the social season of England’s aristocratic families. For this shoot the team took those ideas and reintroduce them to the modern wedding world. 

 Keeping with the Regency era fashion while trying to modernize it as wearable for today’s couples was key to this shoot. The models are styled in gowns which have an empire cut, but in the chic minimal style that are trending now. An ornate embroidered gown was also chosen and paired with thigh-high lace up boots with glam make-up. We used heirloom, vintage wedding rings, but paired them with large geometric statement earrings and funky sunnies. 

Back in those days most couples only had immediate family in attendance for their wedding. Much like the micro-weddings of our current day pandemic weddings. The tablescape is a brunch set for twelve, since during that time period most weddings were celebrated in the morning followed by a late breakfast and would be for the entire wedding party.

The entire styling of this shoot was finding that gorgeous balance of pop and classical like a Billie Eilish song covered by a string quartet.

Kris is a beautiful ball gown created by Calla Blanche. This gown has sheer lace long sleeves with a thick, floral lace running from the shoulder to the wrist. The back is open until the mid waist and creates a long ball gown silhouette. Pockets are also included for a unique style, don’t forget to order a matching veil that can be added! Varuna, the sleek ball gown, was created by Pronovias. The satin fabric gives the gown a gorgeous shine, perfect for grabbing the viewers’ attention when walking down the aisle. The dress is off-the-shoulder and has a slight plunge neckline. This clean look is accompanied well with a plain veil and the beautifully-beaded sash. The satin buttons run fully down the back of the dress giving it a long and lengthened look.

The perfect “V” cut dress is waiting for you!

Some dresses have “V” backs, some have “V” fronts and others have both! It’s important on your wedding day and shoot that the dress is being worn by YOU. Things like bra straps, tan lines and other factors can distract from the beautiful gown you desire. Here are some things you should try with these dresses.

 

Enzoani’s Blue collection featured the gorgeous dress, “Nala”, with a front and back V neckline. This ivory gown includes flower lace which reveals the model’s skin underneath. Nude breast coverings and boning are built into this dress without need of any additional covering or support. This dress is perfect if you want to avoid any mishaps.

 

Eve of Milady features the Couture Collection with elegant gowns. The strapless dress includes a removable cape and skirt. The deep V front is thin and has an open back. This is another example of a dress that does not require any breast coverage but tanning of the upper half of the body should be even. It is important before your wedding or photoshoot that no uneven tanning occurs. This will definitely be very noticeable on the chest as well as the majority of the back.

 

Justin Alexander’s slim fit has a V back and a high neckline front, a Sabrina neckline. The back of the dress is lace and beaded leading to the gorgeous buttons running down the train of the dress. Searching for your dream dress is usually one of the happiest parts of wedding planning, but Covid-19 has taken some of the joy out of even that.

After over 10 years at San Diego Style Weddings and countless styled shoots with hundreds of different gowns, last weekend I was looking at gowns from a different perspective….  this time I am the mother of the bride!  Fortunately, my daughter lives in Phoenix and we were able to get one of the first appointments after shops in Arizona were allowed to open on a limited basis, but shopping was a different experience.

 

Masks required and no bride tribe allowed! The first shop we went to she was allowed to have Mom, Nana and Maid of Honor who zoomed with the rest of her girls. The second shop she was told only ONE person could accompany the bride.  Luckily, we were the last appointment in the afternoon and both Mom and Nana were able to be there after having our temperatures taken and with lots of social distancing. Another drawback because of Covid-19, she could only try on five gowns since they all had to be sanitized after each bride tried them on.

Thanks to Sam at Suzanne’s Bridal Boutique, my daughter found the one and said yes to the dress!

A Dreamy Desert Boho Bride and

Abu the Camel

Animals being a part of weddings has already been a huge trend. We’ve all seen the adorable fur babies, beer toking donkeys, and captivating floral adorn llamas, but for this inspirational shoot, a camel plays the central role!

In the desert bright bold colors were showcased. Shades of magenta and hues of goldenrod were central to the vibrant color scheme. A lush and creative design for the bride’s bouquet as well as the tablescape and lounge areas added to the drama.

The venue itself, The Del Mar Race Track, provided the inspiration for a horse racing theme styled shoot. The color inspiration came from the 2017 Breeder’s Cup Logo at Del Mar, who hosted the prestigious race in 2017. The colors worked perfectly since it matched the colors of Del Mar and were ideal for a wedding shoot. Del Mar is known for “where the turf meets the surf” and the colors were a quintessential match for the surf and sun as well.

The venue itself, The Del Mar Race Track, provided the inspiration for a horse racing theme styled shoot. The color inspiration came from the 2017 Breeder’s Cup Logo at Del Mar, who hosted the prestigious race in 2017. The colors worked perfectly since it matched the colors of Del Mar and were ideal for a wedding shoot. Del Mar is known for “where the turf meets the surf” and the colors were a quintessential match for the surf and sun as well.

Lorimar Vineyards was the perfect setting for the romantic venue with lots of greenery for Lindsey and Pete. Their ceremony overlooked the stunning vineyards with picturesque mountains in the background. You know everyone is looking at your back when you say your vows, so what not give them something stunning to look at.  We just love the gorgeous backs of these gowns from Pronovias.

Recently while in Israel, I happened across a wedding gown photo shoot and even though this was a vacation and not a work trip, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check it out a little closer.  Lucky for me, the designer of the gowns was there and I was able to meet Sineen and chat a bit.  She has been designing gowns for five years and her shop SINEEN Wedding and Evening Dress Salon is located in Jaffa Tel-Aviv.  She is very proud that she designs for all religions in Tel-Aviv.

Fun Fact: Did you know that in Israel wedding gowns are rented and not purchased?  However, if you are interested in a gown she can sell them outside of Israel. You can see more of her designs on Instagram.
