REAL WEDDINGS
A Pop of Pink
Kiki + Joshua
Monserate Vineyards & Winery
When a relationship works, it works. The love story of Kiki and Josh — whose last name is, fittingly, Work — is a prime example. The couple met, serendipitously, at work — at Josh’s family’s winery, Monserate Vineyards & Winery, where Kiki had just started a job in marketing.
“We clicked right away — sparks were flying!” says Kiki.
It was only fitting that when the couple got engaged, they chose Monserate as their wedding venue. “We met there and our whole love story took place there — it just made so much sense to have our wedding there,” she continues. “Plus, I really wanted to have our reception at Villa de Fiore, on the winery grounds. It has grand chandeliers that are so me.”
Kiki chose Victoria Rose of thatBliss Weddings to help plan the big day and bring even more “so me” touches to the celebration. “Victoria brought so many cool, fresh ideas to our wedding, which made me so happy,” she says. “She’s incredibly creative, and I loved all the things that felt new to me.”
The most Kiki element: the pops of pink that added spunkiness and fun to the sleek black-and-white color palette. “I was really set on the hot pink because that’s my favorite color, and everyone knew I would have pink incorporated into my wedding somehow. And I knew I wanted it to be a sexy, moody vibe versus a bubble gum vibe,” Kiki says.
The pretty-in-pink look came together perfectly with bright pink bridesmaid dresses and pink floral adornments on the wedding cake designed by Connor’s Craft Cakes.
“Then we incorporated the black draping and, as the design got further along, we ended up doing all black and white with pink florals that were so stunning,” she adds. “All the black and white was Josh. He likes a chic and sleek aesthetic, and he especially loved the K&J initials on the dance floor.”
Unifying the two were special touches that embodied love, from a gratitude shelf with photos of their mothers to their seating chart, which represented The Eras of Kiki and Josh, complete with photos of them both from childhood and through the years.
Finally, proving that when it works, it works, Kiki and Josh offered a menu of personalized “His, Hers, and Ours” craft cocktails. “I was really proud of what we did for ‘Ours,’” Kiki concludes. An espresso martini cleverly named, of course, the Workaholic.
