Ivy wreaths and fall florals in hues of peach, ruby and buttery yellow adorned tabletops; midnight blue and gold accents were echoed in sapphire and gold glassware and cutlery; patterned textiles draped over the backs of chairs provided texture; and candles, staggered in height, illuminated the lavish table scape from below, while Moroccan lanterns cast a lacy light from above.

For Hope and Julian Scott, their wedding “was a rich tapestry of details: the beautiful florals; the amazing rustic reception tables; the sumptuous place settings and menus; our gorgeous wedding cake, the beautiful flamenco guitar,” the bride said. “It was a feast for the senses.”

The couple’s vision for the evening was “Bohemian Eclectic” with Spanish and Moroccan influences, playing beautifully off of, and inspired by, the Spanish-style hacienda and gardens at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa.

Once Hope and Julian saw the 10-acre property, perched high above the Pacific Ocean in Torrey Pines, they knew it was the perfect backdrop for an intimate event where their guests could gather and meet – most for the very first time. “Our wedding was about stitching them together,” Hope said. “The most important detail was creating a backdrop where everyone could get to know each other.”

The couple invited 30 people to the celebration, a small guest list that gave the bride and groom the opportunity to spend meaningful moments with each and every one of them. And since “aesthetic is everything” to Hope, having a smaller wedding gave them flexibility in the budget to splurge on the rich and highly intricate details that made the evening so extraordinary, all of which were brought to life by wedding coordinator Cara North from Luxe Events.

“Cara was so much more than a coordinator: she was our wish fulfiller, dream maker and fairy God-ninja,” Hope said and laughed. “We could not have had an event this amazing without her. Looking at our beautiful guests around the wedding table, watching everyone laughing and making merry together – that was pure joy and bliss,” Hope said.
