Luke was deployed to Afghanistan in October 2011, so the couple opted for a quick surprise ceremony before he left. Upon his safe return, they had a larger celebration of their love and life together. Luke's father sadly passed away before the wedding, so in his place both Massiel and Luke's mothers participated in the ceremony by performing a hand fastening. Their one-year-old son, Bear served as the ring bearer. Their wedding was truly a commemoration of love, family and commitment.
