A Cherished Legacy
Friar Tux Celebrates 50 Years of Styling Life’s Most Important Events
Before your first appointment with the Friar Tux team ends, you already know you have made trusted friends. Since opening their first location in Lakewood, California in 1974, the family-owned company has offered the finest in tuxedo and suit fashions for all occasions, married with renowned customer service. Over five decades, they have grown to 25+ showrooms across Southern California and Las Vegas, Nevada, seamlessly integrating in-store and online rental and purchasing options to accommodate the diverse needs of their customers worldwide.
“We appreciate that our customers come to us for their most memorable moments, from proms and quinceañeras to graduations, job interviews, and weddings. The legacy we build with customers makes Friar Tux magical,” explains Danielle Conte, Vice President of Marketing. “Our company culture is highly responsive to our customers’ needs. Whether it is the first time a customer is donning a tux, or a longtime client is ordering custom attire, we want everyone to look and feel their best. The experience of dressing for a special occasion may transform a customer’s style overall; we consider our role in this milestone a privilege. Planning events can be intricate; we are here to serve as a partner in style through the entire process.”
Friar Tux stays forward focused: they continuously evolve to provide options that are trendsetting and relevant; affordable and high quality; technologically advanced and personal. A recent relaunch of their website allows customers to purchase, rent, or combine the two, creating ease in attire planning for a group. It is a pleasure to visit one of their ultramodern showrooms in person to meet with a trained stylist or attend a virtual style appointment to accommodate distance, schedules, and comfort. “Our How It Works website page walks customers through the stylist experience, whether they are the couple, a guest in need of attire, or a member of a wedding party. Colors, styles, fabrics all options are at their fingertips,” shares Danielle Conte.
Friar Tux’s collections match every wedding theme, setting, and party size. The company recently launched a most anticipated line of women’s suits for purchase, available in pearl white, black, navy, and charcoal, in sizes zero to 20. The line is sold as separates with individually-sized coats and pants, and in stretch- material, reducing the need for alterations. For men, a wide range of standard, big, and tall sizes are available. Accessories and essential components to complete a look are also offered.
The company is proactive in providing fashion content online to address current trends and inspire ideas via their website, blog, social media channels, and annual Stylist Magazine. “A current trend is warm neutrals,” shares Chelsea Barns, Marketing Manager/Content Creator. “Although not new to weddings, how people are styling neutrals has evolved into a visually interesting mix of greens, golds, caramels, tans, and browns. In response, we added our Olive Green rental suit and Sage Green and Khaki suits from our for-purchase collection to our styled shoots.”
Friar Tux’s orders are also filled with the crisp, timeless vibe. Couples seeking a “leading actor, red carpet feel” for their special day may order a chic Black Peak Lapel Tuxedo from the Michael Kors Performance Collection or the trendy Black Double-Breasted Tuxedo from the for-purchase collection. Both paired with a diamond bow tie creates Chelsea Barns’ favorite “chef’s kiss” look.
The Friar Tux family is grateful to have served its community for half a century. To give back, the company works with many non-profit organizations, such as Wish Upon a Wedding, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, The Princess Project, and the Orange County Rescue Mission, to help style constituents.
