Paper flowers are an easy and affordable DIY décor project to make your wedding all your own. With a vibrant and whimsical
feel they can be used for hanging, securing to a backdrop, tying to chairs for a wedding ceremony or even as an alternative to baskets for flower girls. To create your own paper flowers, you will need 8-12 pieces of colorful tissue paper, a rubber band, string or fishing line for hanging and scissors.

Assemble
8-12 pieces of tissue paper. (The more paper, the fuller the flower, you can
use double for a rounder fuller pom flower.) You can alternate the colors of
paper for a chevron effect or place green paper at the back, and then place the
tissue darkest to lightest or vice versa for a more realistic looking flower.

Once
you have the tissue paper in order, cut the tissue paper in half down the
center width wise for smaller flowers, or leave as is for large flowers.

Once
you have decided on the size, you will begin to accordion fold the tissue
paper. Fold the tissue paper length wise, about
an inch and then flip over and repeat. Do so until all of the paper is folded.

Place
a rubber band around the middle. This will hold the flower together as well as
provide a spot for string if you are planning on hanging or fastening the
flower to an object or wall. If you are using string, now is the time to place
the string through the rubber band, which you just placed in the center.

Cut
the ends of the folded tissue. Sharp points for star like poms; rounded and or curved
for flowers.

Once
the band is in place and the ends are cut. It is time to spread out the paper.
Gently separate the paper on one side of the flower by pulling the paper up towards you.

Once
one side is completed, flip the flower over and repeat on the other side.

Fluff
the flower and make final adjustments.
